DM Plant (Demineralisation)
Produce very pure water for boilers and process use.
What it is
A Demineralisation (DM) plant removes dissolved minerals using cation and anion ion-exchange resins to produce very pure water.
This water is used where minerals would cause trouble, such as boilers, power plants and manufacturing processes. It helps prevent scale and corrosion and protects expensive equipment.
How it works
- Pre-filtrationRaw water is filtered so suspended solids do not foul the resin beds.
- Cation exchangeThe cation resin removes positively charged minerals such as calcium and magnesium.
- DegassingDissolved gases such as carbon dioxide are removed where the design requires it.
- Anion exchangeThe anion resin removes negatively charged ions such as chlorides and sulphates.
- Regeneration and monitoringWhen resins are exhausted they are regenerated, and water quality is monitored continuously.
