Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
Treat domestic and commercial sewage and reuse the water.
What it is
A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) treats domestic and commercial sewage through screening, flow balancing, biological treatment, clarification and disinfection. The result is clean treated water that is safe to reuse.
The biological process (ASP, SBR, MBBR or MBR) is selected for each site, based on the quantity of sewage, available space and budget. Treated water can be reused for gardening, flushing and cooling, so less fresh water is needed.
How it works
- ScreeningPlastics, rags and other large solids are removed so they cannot damage pumps and equipment.
- Flow balancingAn equalisation tank evens out the daily flow and load so the plant runs smoothly.
- Biological treatmentBeneficial bacteria break down organic matter using ASP, SBR, MBBR or MBR, selected per site.
- ClarificationBiological solids settle out and clear water is separated from the sludge.
- DisinfectionTreated water is disinfected and made ready for reuse.
